An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Is ea, ar bhealach do chuid breithiúnas tá muid ag fanacht ort, a Thiarna.

Íseáia 26:8

Is ar an duine a bhfuil grá aige air a chuireann Dia smacht agus sciúrsálann sé gach duine a nglacann sé leis mar mhac. Bígí buanseasmhach, mar sin, ionas go ndéanfar sibh a oiliúint; is mar chlann mhac atá Dia ag caitheamh libh. Cá bhfuil an mac nach gcuireann a athair smacht air?

Eabhraigh 12:6-7

Íseáia 26 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

5 d’ísligh sé an dream a bhí ina gcónaí ar na harda,
muintir an dúnfoirt daingin,
leagann sé iad, leagann iad ar lár,
caitheann sé síos iad sa láib;
6 cosa na n-úiríseal agus na mbochtán,
siúlann siad orthu ina gcoiscéim.”
7 Is díreach bealach an fhíréin,
réitíonn tú bóthar díreach don fhíréan.
8 Is ea, ar bhealach do chuid breithiúnas
tá muid ag fanacht ort, a Thiarna,
is é d’ainm agus do chuimhne tnúthán ár n-anama.
9 Bíonn m’anam ag dréim leat san oíche,
agus mo spiorad do do lorg ionam féin istigh;
nuair a fhoilsítear do bhreithiúnais ar talamh,
foghlaimíonn muintir an domhain ceart agus cóir.
10 Má thugtar fabhraíocht don urchóideach,
ní fhoghlaimíonn sé ionracas.
i dtír na córa, déanann sé urchóid;
ní fheiceann sé maorgacht an Tiarna.
11 A Thiarna, tá do lámh tógtha in airde;
ní fheiceann siad í.
Feiceadh siad do dhúthracht i leith an phobail seo, is bíodh náire orthu;
an tine a lasadh le haghaidh do naimhde, alpfaidh sí iad.

Eabhraigh 12 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

3 Déanaigí machnamh, mar sin, ar an té a chuir suas leis na peacaigh a bhí ag cur chomh mór sin ina aghaidh ionas nach dtiocfaidh tuirse ná lagmhisneach oraibhse choíche.
4 Ag troid in aghaidh an pheaca daoibh ní raibh oraibh seasamh go doirteadh fola fós.
5 Agus tá dearmad déanta agaibh ar na briathra spreagúla a labhraítear libh mar chlann mhac Dé: “A mhic liom, ná déan neamhní den smacht a chuireann Dia ort, ná bíodh lagmhisneach ort nuair a cheartaíonn sé thú.
6 Óir is ar an duine a bhfuil grá aige air a chuireann Dia smacht agus sciúrsálann sé gach duine a nglacann sé leis mar mhac.”
7 Bígí buanseasmhach, mar sin, ionas go ndéanfar sibh a oiliúint; is mar chlann mhac atá Dia ag caitheamh libh. Cá bhfuil an mac nach gcuireann a athair smacht air?
8 Mura gcuirtear oraibhse an smacht sin is dual a chur ar gach mac, ní clann mhac dlisteanach sibh ach bastaird.
9 Lena chois sin, nuair a chuireadh ár n-aithreacha nádúrtha smacht orainn, bhímis urramach dóibh. Nach mó go mór ná sin is ceart dúinn bheith umhal dár n-athair spioradálta agus an bheatha a shealbhú?
10 Choinnídís-sean faoi smacht sinn ar feadh tamaillín de réir mar ab áil leo féin; ach is ar mhaithe linn a dhéanann Dia é ionas go mbeimis páirteach ina naofacht féin.

In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you.

Isaiah 26:8

The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives. It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Hebrews 12:6-7

Íseáia 26 (English Standard Version)

5 For he has humbled
the inhabitants of the height,
the lofty city.
He lays it low, lays it low to the ground,
casts it to the dust.
6 The foot tramples it,
the feet of the poor,
the steps of the needy.”
7 The path of the righteous is level;
you make level the way of the righteous.
8 In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and remembrance
are the desire of our soul.
9 My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10 If favor is shown to the wicked,
he does not learn righteousness;
in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly
and does not see the majesty of the Lord.
11 O Lord, your hand is lifted up,
but they do not see it.
Let them see your zeal for your people, and be ashamed.
Let the fire for your adversaries consume them.

Eabhraigh 12 (English Standard Version)

3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?
“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?
10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.
