An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Tús na heagna eagla Dé.

Seanfhocal 1:7

Cuirfidh mé m’urraim ina gcroí, ionas nach ndealóidh siad arís uaim.

Irimia 32:40-41

Seanfhocal 1 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

4 Le críonnacht a thabhairt don saonta,
agus eolas agus tuiscint don óg;
5 Le ciall an tseanfhocail agus na solaoide a cheapadh,
briathra na saoithe agus a nathanna –
6 Éisteadh an t-eagnaí freisin agus beidh breis eolais aige,
agus beidh cumas dea-chomhairle ag an bhfear tuisceanach.
7 Tús na heagna eagla Dé;
is beag ar na hamadáin an eagna agus an teagasc.
8 Éist, a mhic, le teagasc d’athar
agus ná séan oiliúint do mháthar.
9 Beidh siadsan mar choróin ghrásta ar do cheann
agus mar thorc ar do bhráid.
10 Má bhíonn peacaigh do do mhealladh, a mhic ó,
ná géill dóibh.

Irimia 32 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

37 Cruinneoidh mise iad as na tíortha uile inar dhíbir mé iad i m’fhearg, i m’fhraoch agus i mo chuthach mór. Tabharfaidh mé ar ais don áit seo iad agus tabharfaidh mé orthu cónaí go sábháilte.
38 Ansin beidh siad ina bpobal agamsa agus beidh mise i mo Dhia acusan.
39 Tabharfaidh mé malairt chroí dóibh agus malairt iompair, le go mbeidh mo eaglasa orthu go brách, ar mhaithe leo féin agus lena gclann ina ndiaidh.
40 Déanfaidh mé conradh síoraí leo; ní éireoidh mé as déanamh maitheasa dóibh, agus cuirfidh mé m’urraim ina gcroí, ionas nach ndealóidh siad arís uaim.
41 Gairdeoidh mé mar gheall ar mhaitheas a dhéanamh dóibh, agus plandóidh mé le barr dílse iad sa dúiche seo, le mo chroí agus le m’anam go hiomlán.’
42 Óir is mar seo a deir an Tiarna: ‘Faoi mar a thug mé an t-olc mór seo ar an bpobal seo, is mar sin a tabharfaidh mé orthu an uile mhaith dá ngeallaim dóibh.
43 Ceannófar tailte fós sa tír seo faoina n-abrann tusa: Is talamh bánaithe í gan duine ná beithíoch; tugadh i láimh na gCaildéach í.
44 Ceannóidh daoine garraithe ar airgead, déanfaidh siad amach cuntais, cuirfidh séala orthu agus glaofaidh ar fhinnéithe i dtír Bhiniáimin, sna ceantair timpeall Iarúsailéim, i mbailte Iúdá agus na sléibhte, sna hísleáin agus sa Neigib. Óir cuirfidh mé ar bun arís iad – is é an Tiarna a labhraíonn.’”

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Proverbs 1:7

I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me. I will rejoice in doing them good.

Jeremiah 32:40-41

Seanfhocal 1 (English Standard Version)

4 to give prudence to the simple,
knowledge and discretion to the youth—
5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning,
and the one who understands obtain guidance,
6 to understand a proverb and a saying,
the words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction,
and forsake not your mother's teaching,
9 for they are a graceful garland for your head
and pendants for your neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice you,
do not consent.

Irimia 32 (English Standard Version)

37 Behold, I will gather them from all the countries to which I drove them in my anger and my wrath and in great indignation. I will bring them back to this place, and I will make them dwell in safety.
38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
39 I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children after them.
40 I will make with them an everlasting covenant, that I will not turn away from doing good to them. And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me.
41 I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.
42 “For thus says the Lord: Just as I have brought all this great disaster upon this people, so I will bring upon them all the good that I promise them.
43 Fields shall be bought in this land of which you are saying, ‘It is a desolation, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’
44 Fields shall be bought for money, and deeds shall be signed and sealed and witnessed, in the land of Benjamin, in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negeb; for I will restore their fortunes, declares the Lord.”
