Salm 24 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

4 An té a bhfuil lámh gan smál agus croí glan aige:
an té ar beag air nithe gan tairbhe
agus nach dtugann mionn éithigh dá chomharsa.
5 Beidh beannacht an Tiarna ar an té sin
agus luach saothair ó Dhia, a shlánaitheoir.
6 A leithéid sin a bhíonn á lorg:
a bhíonn ar thóir Dia Iacóib.
7 Ardaigí bhur lindéir, a gheataí,
agus tógtar na doirse cianaosta
go dtaga Rí na glóire isteach!
8 Cé hé an Rí seo na glóire?
An Tiarna atá láidir, tréan;
an Tiarna atá tréan i gcogadh.
9 Ardaigí bhur lindéir, a gheataí,
agus tógtar na doirse cianaosta
go dtaga Rí na glóire isteach!
10 Cé hé an Rí seo na glóire?
Is é an Tiarna é, Dia na slua,
sin é Rí na gloire.

Íseáia 40 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 “Sólás, beirigí sólás chuig mo mhuintir,”
a deir bhur nDia.
2 “Labhraigí le croí Iarúsailéim agus fógraígí di
go bhfuil aimsir a seirbhíse istigh,
go bhfuil a peaca maite,
go bhfuair sí ó láimh an Tiarna
pionós faoi dhó ina cionta go léir.”
3 Tá glór ag fógairt:
“Réitigí cosán san fhásach
le haghaidh an Tiarna.
Déanaigí díreach thar an machaire
bealach mór dár nDia.
4 Líontar isteach gach gleann,
agus íslítear gach sliabh agus gach cnoc;
déantar achréidh de na hailteanna
agus míntír den gharbhchríoch.
5 Ansin foilseofar glóir an Tiarna
agus feicfidh an uile fheoil í in éineacht.
Óir tá béal an Tiarna tar éis labhairt.”
6 Deir glór: “Glaoigh!”
agus deirimse ar ais: “Cad a ghlaofaidh mé?”
– “Tá an uile fheoil mar an féar
agus a scéimh ar fad mar bhláth an mhachaire.

Isaiah 40:3

Salm 24 (English Standard Version)

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false
and does not swear deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
7 Lift up your heads, O gates!
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle!
9 Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory!

Íseáia 40 (English Standard Version)

1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her
that her warfare is ended,
that her iniquity is pardoned,
that she has received from the Lord's hand
double for all her sins.
3 A voice cries:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
6 A voice says, “Cry!”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”
All flesh is grass,
and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.
