An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Is minic a crádh mé ó m’óige, ach ní dhearnadh mo threascairt.

Salm 129:2

Bítear dár gciapadh ó gach taobh ach nílimid teanntaithe; bímid i gcruachás ach nílimid in éadóchas.

2 Corantaigh 4:8

Salm 129 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 Amhrán Oilithreach.
Is minic a crádh mé ó m’óige;
abradh Iosrael anois:
2 Is minic a crádh mé ó m’óige,
ach ní dhearnadh mo threascairt.
3 Bhí fir chéachta ag réabhadh ar mo dhroim;
rinne siad a gclaiseanna fada.
4 Ach ghearr an Tiarna fíréanta
cordaí na n-éagráifeach.
5 An dream ar fuath leo Síón,
go gcuirtear ar gcúl iad faoi náire.

2 Corantaigh 4 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

5 Ní dár bhfógairt féin atáimid ach ag fógairt Íosa Críost ina Thiarna agus gan ionainne ach seirbhísigh daoibhse ar son Íosa.
6 An Dia a dúirt: “Bíodh solas ag lonradh as an dorchadas,” is é an Dia céanna é a chuir solas ag lonradh inár gcroí-ne d’fhonn eolas na glóire diaga ar chuntanós Chríost a chur ar ár súile dúinn.
7 Is i bprócaí cré atá an tseoid seo i gcoimeád againn, d’fhonn a chruthú gur le Dia an chumhacht as cuimse agus nach uainn féin í.
8 Bítear dár gciapadh ó gach taobh ach nílimid teanntaithe; bímid i gcruachás ach nílimid in éadóchas;
9 bítear dár ngéarleanúint ach nílimid tréigthe; bítear dár síneadh ach nílimid díscithe.
10 Bíonn bás Íosa ar iompar inár gcorp againn de shíor ar shlí go mbeadh beatha Íosa le feiceáil inár gcorp chomh maith.
11 Fad is beo sinn bímid dár dtabhairt suas chun báis de shíor ar son Íosa, ionas go mbeadh beatha Íosa soiléir le feiceáil inár gcolainn bhásmhar.

English Standard Version

Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me.

Psalm 129:2

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair.

2 Corinthians 4:8

Salm 129 (English Standard Version)

1 “Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth”—
let Israel now say—
2 “Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth,
yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 The plowers plowed upon my back;
they made long their furrows.”
4 The Lord is righteous;
he has cut the cords of the wicked.
5 May all who hate Zion
be put to shame and turned backward!

2 Corantaigh 4 (English Standard Version)

5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
