An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Na ciníocha go léir a rinne tú, tiocfaidh siad do d’adhradh, a Thiarna; agus déanfaidh siad d’ainm a fhógairt.

Salm 86:9

Níor shéan Dia an pobal a bhí aitheanta aige ó thus mar a phobal féin.

Rómhánaigh 11:2

Salm 86 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

6 Éist le m’urnaí, a Thiarna;
tabhair aire do ghlór mo ghuí.
7 Is ortsa a ghlaoim lá mo bhuartha;
de bhrí go n-éisteann tú liom.
8 Níl do shamhail i measc na ndéithe, a Thiarna;
ná níl neach ann a dhéanfadh do ghníomhartha.
9 Na ciníocha go léir a rinne tú,
tiocfaidh siad do d’adhradh, a Thiarna;
agus déanfaidh siad d’ainm a fhógairt.
10 Óir is éachtach tú agus is iontach iad do ghníomhartha;
is tú amháin is Dia ann.
11 Múin do shlí dom, a Thiarna;
i dtreo go siúlfainn i d’fhírinne;
agus déan mo chroí a dhíriú,
i dtreo gurab eagal liom d’ainm.
12 Tabharfaidh mé buíochas duit ó chroí, a Thiarna Dia;
agus molfaidh mé d’ainm go brách.

Rómhánaigh 11 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 Ceist agam mar sin: An bhfuil Dia tar éis a phobal féin a shéanadh? Níl ar chor ar bith. Nach Iosraelach mé féin de shliocht Abrahám agus de threibh Bhiniáimin?
2 Níor shéan Dia an pobal a bhí aitheanta aige ó thus mar a phobal féin. An é nach eol daoibh cad é a deir an scrioptúr sa trácht úd ag Éilias agus clann Iosrael á gcásamh aige le Dia:
3 “A Thiarna, mharaigh siad do chuid fáithe, leag siad d’altóirí ar lár, níor fágadh ach mé féin agus tá siad ar thóir m’anama.”
4 Agus cad é an freagra a thug Dia air? “Choimeád mé dom féin seacht míle fear nár fheac a nglúin do Bhál.”
5 Is é an dála céanna é san am i láthair: tá fuíoll ann agus iad tofa trí ghrásta.

English Standard Version

All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.

Psalm 86:9

God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew.

Romans 11:2

Salm 86 (English Standard Version)

6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
listen to my plea for grace.
7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you,
for you answer me.
8 There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like yours.
9 All the nations you have made shall come
and worship before you, O Lord,
and shall glorify your name.
10 For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.
11 Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.

Rómhánaigh 11 (English Standard Version)

1 I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?
3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.”
4 But what is God's reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
5 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
