9 Dünyaya gelen, her insanı aydınlatan gerçek ışık vardı.
10 O, dünyadaydı, dünya O’nun aracılığıyla var oldu, ama dünya O’nu tanımadı.
11 Kendi yurduna geldi, ama kendi halkı O’nu kabul etmedi.
12 Kendisini kabul edip adına iman edenlerin hepsine Tanrı’nın çocukları olma hakkını verdi.
13 Onlar ne kandan, ne beden ne de insan isteğinden doğdular; tersine, Tanrı’dan doğdular.
14 Söz, insan olup aramızda yaşadı. O’nun yüceliğini –Baba’dan gelen, lütuf ve gerçekle dolu biricik Oğul’un yüceliğini– gördük.
15 Yahya O’na tanıklık etti. Yüksek sesle şöyle dedi: “‘Benden sonra gelen benden üstündür. Çünkü O benden önce vardı’ diye sözünü ettiğim kişi budur.”

14 Bizi zorlayan, Mesih’in sevgisidir. Yargımız şu: Biri herkes için öldü; öyleyse hepsi öldü.
15 Evet, Mesih herkes için öldü. Öyle ki, yaşayanlar artık kendileri için değil, kendileri uğruna ölüp dirilen Mesih için yaşasınlar.
16 Bu nedenle, biz artık kimseyi insan ölçülerine göre tanımayız. Mesih’i bu ölçülere göre tanıdıksa da, artık öyle tanımıyoruz.
17 Bir kimse Mesih’teyse, yeni yaratıktır; eski şeyler geçmiş, her şey yeni olmuştur.
18 Bunların hepsi Tanrı’dandır. Tanrı, Mesih aracılığıyla bizi kendisiyle barıştırdı ve bize barıştırma görevini verdi.
19 Şöyle ki Tanrı, insanların suçlarını saymayarak dünyayı Mesih’te kendisiyle barıştırdı ve barıştırma sözünü bize emanet etti.
20 Böylece, Tanrı aracılığımızla çağrıda bulunuyormuş gibi Mesih’in adına elçilik ediyor, O’nun adına yalvarıyoruz: Tanrı’yla barışın.

14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;
15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
